New Cereal : SIN-NA-BUN: For Fun

Two Common Techniques: Response

The two techniques that we used for are cereal box were: cute celebrities and Heart Strings. The Way my partner and I used the technique cute celebrity is by using the mascot Swirly. Swirly is a cute cuddly cinnamon bun; He has two big eyes, soft looking brown skin and a smiley face. We hope that Swirly's new found cuteness will have the effect on children to persuade their parents to by them this particular cereal. The way that we used the Heart Strings technique is by using the character Swirly's Happiness, innocence, and his ability to look good to eat. The way we want Swirly to be portrayed among the audience is fun, loving, and childish.

Why alcohol and tobacco advertising is such a Hot topic

In today's society almost every time you watch a commercial, a TV show,or a movie, the person in the spotlight or even in the scene are either smoking or drinking. In reality, the media advertise smoking and drinking in five ways, by using: success, popularity, romance, Happiness, and independence. The Media prays on the emotions of the audience, so when they advertise, the whole point is to make you fill that without their item, you won't achieve any of the happiness, success, etc., you want out of your life. For example say your at home watching TV and this commercial that's advertising cigars come on and it showing a group of attractive boys or girls, smoking. But the commercial also shows another group of kids, who are not smoking, who look lame and unattractive. You're probably saying what's the big idea, it's just a commercial. Yes, it is just a commercial but the message behind the commercial is what is disturbing. The message that is being presented is that if you don't smoke then your so called "uncool" or "Lame". The boy or girl that is looking at the commercial that might be feeling insecure about themselves or who are not in the so called"popular" group, may now think in order to be apart and have that kind of stats or feel attractive, they should start smoking. Now I not saying that everyone is that easily manipulated but this is the way the media wants the audience to feel like and view their lives. The point of this summary is to warn the effects the media wants to have on you and the consequences if your easily influenced.

Response to the movie:Growing up online

The movie "Growing Up Online" is about the dangers and awareness of this online generation and how technology runs our lives, especially young people. I felt this movie did a very good job on getting their message out about the hidden dangers in technology, such as cyber bullying and posting personal and provocative information and also how kids are using the internet as a easy way out on school assignments. I would recommend this movie to show to a teen or preteen who are going through a similar experience I mention above.

Urban Legend

Soap Sally

My favorite urban legend is the story of soap Sally. This tale began in the 1950's where an older lady name Sally is accused of kidnapping little children, who are unsupervised by a grown up and murdering them. Next she uses the fat from the dead victim to create soap( that's where the name soap sally comes from). It was said once she died that if a Little kid acts up or misbehaves her spirit would interrupt their dream while their slepping and try to grab them, if the child did not wake up before she grabbed them, they would be dead before the morning hit. People believe that you can see soap sally only when a child is missing for two or three days later. Adults use this tale to scary thier young children into acting right, just like they use the myth about if you don't be good, you won't get anything for christmas. I think this story would be a good way to get younger children into being on their best behavior.

How I feel about blogging-school project

I think that blogging is a great way to communicate to the world about how you feel and view different topics or subjects . Blogging is not hard or complicated, you just write about what you're thinking about at the moment or a certain problem that you would like to address to the public. Blogging is also good for entertainment purposes as well, such as: writing stories or poetry. The first blog I wrote was about how I felt about media violence and the way it appeals to the consumers. Blogging is really fun if you give it a chance and take it seriously.

Media Violence

To me media violence is use to appeal to the consumer. A lot of people in this world are attracted to the idea of violence. In today’s society the rate of violence in America is on the rise and is becoming more of trend then something to fear. Teenage boys are the main target of interest when making violent video games or movies. Now, I’m not saying that there’s something wrong with violent video games or movies, at times when the moment is right they can be entertaining. But sometimes these video games or movies can fall into the wrong hands such as a little kid, who either doesn’t know the difference between real of fiction or wants to be just like that particular character. We all know someone younger who likes to dress up like a certain superhero or rich girl that they saw on some random show because they thought they were cool. Heck! A lot of adults and teens do that now by coping off some celebrity they saw as well, but staying on topic, imagine a little boy or girl came up to you and said “I want to rob a bank just like that man in that game or “I want a gun”. Media violence is not only seen by mature people but immature people as well. In order to stop this kind of behavior, we have to stand together as a community and say, NO TO VIOLENCE.
